This is for Eaves Avalon Stamford connecticut. While moving out we asked for inspection in our presence but the staff in the office said that he can not do it right now though he was free. We had to rush to airport to catch our flight. We handed keys with full faith and trust in the community. We cleaned the apartment ourselves. I receive and email stating that $761 has been charged for apartment cleaning and air cleaning. That is just unacceptable. My husband and I recently saw Avalon/San Bruno,Ca. We started the process of renting a 2bed2bath. We gave them a check for $2356. Upon further thought we decided against the unit. We had been told we had 30 days to cancel. I called,spoke to the manager and stated I had put a stop on the check. He said fine since it was the next day (3/5/16) there was no liability. We were never told about any penalty. We have received a bill for $870.Why???? they are now threatening collection proceedings if not paid. We were told everything was taken... Read more

Where to even begin? I doubt that many will see this - only the good reviews are posted. But this needs to be seen. Everyone has different experiences, but this is mine. The first time I toured the place, we were interested in a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom. The leasing lady took my ID and just gave me a key and told me what apartment it was for - that should've been red flag #1. The apartment that I saw was okay, livable. When it was time to move in, it was a whole different story.  The apartment that I moved into wasn't even similar to what I saw.... Read more

We've lived in Avalon communities for a few years now, moved to one closer to the city near us last year. Since then, we've had intermittent hot water and water pressure, with complaints filed on 11 separate occasions in ten months. For 4k a month you would think we could expect consistent hot water, and if the hot water tank needs to be replaced SURELY some of high rent would go towards that? AvalonBay fraudulently sued my housemate and I secretly without following WA State RCW, and managed to push it through the legal system without us knowing about it until an unknown person stapled a sheriff's writ to our door saying we were being forcefully removed on the 20th of January. My housemate has had some financial trouble and has been late on his half of the rent often. Avalon automatically threatens eviction if you're 5 days late, so we've had this happen before. After living at the Avalon Community apartments for over 14 years, I received an irate phone call by a Recovery Associate on 12/24/15 regarding the statement for the cleaning of the apartment. I always paid my rent on time and never been late in all the years I lived there, yet, I felt like a criminal for a $ 231.03 cleaning bill that was due on 12/30/15. The statement was for the cleaning of the rug that was not replaced after all the years living there. Read more

BBB Business Review; overview; customer reviews: Avalon Bay Communities, Inc. This Business is not BBB Accredited does that say it all?!?!? I found out that I am paying $1000 more than similar apartments and Avalon will not adjust. Unfair rental practices. I called customer service and they would not give me a contact at their HQ.The rental office was sarcastic and unwilling to resolve amicably. Can anyone provide a telephone number to the headquarters? What would you do if you found yourself in my position? Is there any law in NY against this type of unfair rental practice? They will use any excuse to not return deposit, even claiming tenant should pay to dye carpet. We cleaned it professionslly.Also they charge extra for one day , even though they were told we were leaving early in writing Pure greed . Stay away from these thieves and financial repists. They will find any lame excuse not to return the money, claiming the professionals did not clean the carpet properly Stay away from them as they will cheat you in any way that they can. Read more

I am living in Avalon Eaves; I have lived in the Avalon for one year for $1760 rent and I wanted to extend my lease for another year and found that lease prices increased by $300 which is a huge amount. I requested them to reduce the amount by at least $100 since we are students and all that but they refused to do so, and we are stuck here for another year.
